Atlas Genius: These Four Siblings from “Down Under” are doing nothing but Rising Up on U.S. Charts
Written By: Courtney Garkani
With lyrics that range from a metaphorical Trojan encompassing the thought trail of the broken-hearted to the funky buzz that hymns off upbeat instrumentals, there is no doubt that Atlas Genius is musically pleasing. But of Corse that is expected when you put four brothers in a band together—note the success of recently split, Kings of Leon circa 2008. However what’s even more exciting then the arising band’s sibling base, is the rising of bands from Down Under. And not just bands—it’s everything. It seems like before we knew it California turned into its very own Sabo Skirt shopping and Julian Wilson worshipping Golden Coast.
But lets get back to the music. Atlas Genius released their first complete album, When It Was Now, February 19th. Based on my previous excursion on the predicted success of the band, while, there is no hiding I am more than pleased with it. To say the least, they are the perfect blend of a less hyper and high-pitched Passion Pit tied together with the smoothness of The Temper Trap. Basically to describe them I would say “Mellow Pop”. The mix of calm but uplifting musicality presented by the debut album will have you in love at first listen. Basically if you took a vanilla latte and blended it into a fourteen tracks you would have When It Was Now. So for every music listener, broaden your eardrums and take a sip because I promise it will be more than pleasing. |
