Bamboo Bistro: A Different Twist on Dinning Out
By: Marit Vangrow and Paul Breslin
Picture yourself wandering aimlessly through the flower streets, just a bit peckish for authentic Vietnamese cuisine. You see a long line forming outside of a small bistro and decide to take closer look. You say to your fellow hipster, “This looks Insta worthy.” After a moderate wait, you step into an exotic atmosphere. You feel like you have been transported to a restaurant in the heart of Vietnam, but you are really just in Bamboo Bistro.
Food
The serving sizes are quite small, so we recommend sharing a few plates among friends. We highly recommend the tofu salad for an appetizer; it could also double as a light meal for a single costumer. For entrées we suggest the shaken beef and the house clay pot. The house clay pot is a heavier entrée, so it’s perfect for two or someone who wants leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Vegetarian options for many are also some of the dishes served.
Pricing
Plan on going to Bamboo Bistro with a couple of friends; it may be a little pricey if you intend on purchasing your own meal, so share!
Service
The service is fast; however, maybe a little too fast. The waiters lack trendiness and seem a little pushy, but it’s the food that counts in this situation. Sparse parking is prevalent, so plan on getting some exercise.
Atmosphere
Some may say the atmosphere is a little cramped, but we like to consider it as intimate. The restaurant is small, but maintains a cozy essence. Various extensive Vietnamese influences embellish the restaurant, including artwork and decor
