PITFIRE PIZZA: A UNIQUE TWIST ON THE CLASSIC PIZZA PARLOR
BY MARIT VANGROW // PUBLISHED 5.19.13
Pitfire Pizza is not your typical pizza parlor. It has an extremely quirky, unique feel, unlike many of its competitors. The menu is extensive and has almost any pizza—and if you can’t find what you are looking for you can always design your own artisan pizza; the options are limitless.
Even though you order and pay for your meal at a front counter, Pitfire is far from a fast food restaurant. The overall feel of Pitfire is the polar opposite of most of its competitors. It is not hectic, rather it is very relaxed and mellow. The employees are also a bit alternative, which adds a bit of character to the restaurant. Now the important part—the food. There is a variety of options, ranging from paninis to salads to, of course, pizzas. I’ve tried at least five different pizzas and each one is delicious in its own way. My favorite, however, would have to be the Burrata Pie—your typical red sauce pizza but covered in burrata cheese, arugula, hazelnuts, and pesto drizzle. It is pure perfection. |
I also highly recommend the White Pie which is a cream sauce pizza with ricotta and mozzarella cheese, basil, red onion, and pickled peppers. For dessert you cannot go wrong with the Pitfire Smothered Cookie. It is a warm cookie served with organic vanilla ice cream; it is much better than a pizookie from any other pizza place. You can tell that its ingredients are much more natural and pure than those in any other pizookie.
Overall, I think that Pitfire is the perfect spot for an intimate lunch or a casual dinner. The ingredients are authentic and organic and the options are endless. It is sure to be your go-to pizza place.
