Unique Dining: Tabu ShabuBy: Matilda Bress
With a name like Tabu Shabu, you are almost guaranteed a unique dining experience, and let me tell you that’s just what you’ll get. Upon walking into the-restaurant-in-the-obscure-location, you’ll find a refreshingly new layout that abolishes vinyl booths, awkward tables and empty bar seats in this Japanese do it yourself mecca of a restaurant. Everyone sits around a central prep kitchen. A burner is placed in front of you, and they bring you the menu. The theme of this establishment is pick what you want, cook it how you want and eat it how you want. You can pick your broth with a choice of veggie, chicken, beef, pork or salmon for your meat. The broth is what boils so you can safely cook your food, quickly and efficiently. It is the most heavenly smelling thing on this earth, and it’s what you get to cook your dinner in (lucky you!) The helpful waiters give you a tutorial on the art of shabu, and leaving you with chopsticks, a plate filled to the brim with delicious veggies and your chosen protein. You get to spend the rest of the meal laughing with friends and cooking your dinner. You leave full, happy and without money regret. Tabu Shabu is a must; so on date night, girls night out, or dinner with your family, this is the place to be. |
